Yudu Cardshop Personal Card Screen Printer

After a few weeks, and so many trial and error I love my Yudu Cardshop. I have been happily printing cards after I encountered a few tricks:

1. Yudu branded furnishes are expensive. For underneath $15 you may purchase a 4oz each, 6 pack of speedball ink from amazon which is WAY less expensively than the bottles of yudu ink.

2. You don’t need the more prominent yudu to use this product if you have a cricut or other vinyl cutting machine. However if you want to burn elaborate screens a more prominent yudu would be the best way.

3. Unless you’re printing on something thick, put the screen directly over your paper (not on the white part). Doing this eliminated ghosting from ink becoming on the back of the screen.

4. Don’t flood the screen first. Just pull hard and sufficient ink will transfer onto your medium.

5. You don’t need to buy emulsion remover to erase the pre-burned screen. I just soaked mine in straight bleach for 10 minutes (do this at your own risk) and then I rinsed while using a nylon brush.

I use my cricut (well actually pazzles if you know what that is) machine to cut reverse images out of vinyl and cohere it to the back of the screen. This works great for typography or basic graphic designs. I may pull quite a few times before the adhesive loses its grip and I have to pull it off and use a new design.

Pros:

- Easy to use once you get the hang of it

- Easy to clean in a sink (vs tub for a regular yudu)

- Doesn’t take up a lot of space

- Quick to make multiple prints

- Great price at almost half off firstborn price

- Large enough mat to do a variety of projects

Cons:

- Space amidst screen and mat is too far and can cause ghosting

- Blank screens are not readily available

- Doesn’t burn screens (Hello Gocco!)

- Emulsion and remover are not included

- Compared to Gocco time to make multiple prints is slow.

Overall I in truth like this product and have recommended it to my friends.
